The Veterinary Cardiovascular Society is planning to host a limited number of oral Cardiology abstracts at the Spring 2026 meeting.
Oral abstracts should have a cardiology component. Accepted oral abstracts will need to be presented in person at the VCS meeting in Birmingham on Friday 20th March 2026.
Oral abstracts will be required to follow the guidelines for ECVIM abstracts:
https://www.ecvimcongress.org/abstracts
Briefly, research communications should report recent clinical research, which is original in nature. Reviews will not be accepted, and you are strongly discouraged from submitting preliminary results from ongoing trials.
Further, case reports as research abstracts are generally NOT accepted unless they are of exceptional (ground-breaking) nature. Abstracts containing any form of advertisement will be rejected.
No abstract may be submitted that has been previously published or presented at an international European or American meeting. Abstracts presented at national meetings may be submitted. Contents must be significantly different or include new information if a similar abstract was presented earlier. During the abstract submission process, you will need to list all co-authors for your abstract.
The abstract submission deadline is 31st Jan 2026.
The abstract MUST be between 200 and 400 words in length (excluding title and author details). The format of the abstract is flexible, but should contain information on the aim of the work, methods, results and conclusions. A statement that “the results will be discussed” is not acceptable. Subheadings (methods, results, etc.) are NOT allowed. Tables, graphs and figures are NOT allowed. References are NOT allowed. Please note that affiliations (names, companies, universities, institutions, etc.) may not be used anymore in the title of the abstract or in the abstract text.
Abstracts are blindly reviewed. All abstracts will be evaluated by three members of the veterinary cardiovascular society using the following criteria: scientific content, experimental design, animal welfare, and relevance to veterinary cardiology.
The corresponding author will be notified about the decision before 21st February.
The author must present a 12-minute oral presentation, which will be followed by a 3-minute slot for discussion (broadly equating to ~12 slides at 1 minute per slide).
Abstracts selected for an oral presentation will be published in the VCS meeting proceedings.
If you would like to submit an abstract you must use the form below and return to the VCS secretaries. Please contact the secretaries if you need any assistance.
