The Kennel Club strongly recommends that all breeders, both assured breeders (ABs) and non ABs, use the breed club heart testing scheme.

Screening should be for both congenital heart disease (especially subaortic stenosis) (once at least 12 months of age) and acquired heart disease such as dilated cardiomyopathy.

Heart Testing schemes are constantly being reviewed and updated by VCS and The Kennel Club.  The information here is correct at the time of writing (June 2024).
